Find out what’s new in Security Center 5.10.1

We’re excited to announce the first update for Security Center 5.10, which launched earlier this year. Release 5.10.1 makes it easier to practice proper cybersecurity hygiene and offers new tools to keep edge devices secure. Privacy is also reinforced, with options to anonymize exported footage, while ingested records can be explored dynamically using new data analysis tools. Want to know more? Read on or watch our 5-minute overview of 5.10.1.

The latest version of the Genetec unified security platform enhances cybersecurity hygiene, edge device security, and more.

Keep edge devices secure

Edge devices offer a wide surface of attack for malicious actors. Keeping cameras, readers, and other sensors secure is a key part of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy. This requires three things:

• Up-to-date firmware that protects your system against known vulnerabilities

• Secure passwords that are rotated frequently

• Strong identity management to identify devices connected to the system

Version 5.10.1 makes it easier to establish a strong cybersecurity foundation. It extends support for centralized password management, which was introduced in Security Center 5.9.1 last year, to support Synergis™ Cloud Link devices. This means you can automatically generate strong passwords manually or on a schedule, directly from Security Center. Curious to see how it works? This video shows the process in action:

Protect privacy in your exported footage

Balancing security and privacy is a challenge many organizations face. The Privacy Protector™ module provides a solution for real-time anonymization.

In version 5.10.1, Privacy Protector offers an option to anonymize video when exporting from Security Center Omnicast™. This reduces the number of resources needed, as video is not anonymized live to ensure that video respects the privacy of staff, customers, and visitors when shared outside the organization.

Dive into records data

The Record Fusion Service module, introduced in version 5.10, lets you ingest external data sources in just a few clicks. Records can then be used to enhance dynamic maps, augment the dashboard with operational data, and even support investigations.

The new Aggregation widget provides a comprehensive data analysis toolset directly in Security Center, which allows you to explore records dynamically. Where normal chart widgets can map data values over time or by basic categories, the Aggregation widget applies common mathematical operations to your data. This means you can calculate the sum of a given field across all record types, identify the average, maximum, minimum of median value, and more.

What is a Minor release?

Security Center Minor releases are frequent updates available to all users of a Major version. If your system is already using version 5.10, you can upgrade to 5.10.1 and gain access to the new capabilities today! If your system is on a previous Major version, like Security Center 5.9, you can upgrade to Security Center 5.10.1 with an active Genetec Advantage plan.
