The Genetec Security Desk is designed to run remotely on the operators' computer for day-to-day use to manage or monitor the video surveillance cameras. The Security Desk provides instant control of the cameras and connected security devices and enables quick access to live and recorded video and metadata. An adaptable user interface is optimized for individual operator's tasks and adjusted according to specific skills and authority levels. OmniSwitch Genetec Plugin will be added as a task in the Security Desk and can be launched by all users.

 

The Genetec Server component handles tasks related to events, alarms, and consolidates system events in a single place with an interface for partners and third-party integrations via the Genetec Development Acceleration Program (DAP) for developers creating custom integrations using the Genetec API and SDK packages.

 

OmniSwitch Genetec Plugin will run along with the Genetec Server (not integrated) to handle background tasks like adding a switch to the Genetec database, receiving SNMP trap events from the switch, periodic scans of the switches to refresh database information, etc.

The OmniSwitch Genetec plugin is an add-on that can be installed on to the Genetec VMS which will subsequently allow VMS users to have limited control of ALE OmniSwitch devices connected to the video camera equipment.

 

Genetec Security Center VMS is a leading open platform video management system software (running on Microsoft Windows platform) used to manage video surveillance platforms involving cameras, video storage units and other security components.

 

The Genetec VMS system consists of several components that handle specific tasks. Components can all be installed on a single server or on separate, dedicated servers for scalability and load distribution.
