The HALO Smart Sensor provides security in all areas where you cannot have a camera due to privacy issues. Bathrooms, hotel rooms, dormitories, apartments, hospital rooms, private offices, locker rooms etc., can now be secured with the HALO Smart Sensor. Data and alerts will be pulled into Security Center providing 100% coverage of a facility. Be it vaping, gunshot detection, audible alerts, calls for help, or air quality concerns, all these items will be alerted through Security Center.
Integrated using TCP through the Industrial IoT integration, the HALO Smart Sensor sends events to Security Center to trigger actions, alarms, or incidents. System administrators can define rules in Security Center with specific actions to trigger when Security Center receives an event notification from the HALO Smart Sensor. Security Desk provides intelligence to operators such as live video from associated cameras, audible notifications, specific alarm details from the HALO device, and the location of the triggered sensor.
With a single device, HALO provides:
- Building health monitoring
- Indoor air quality monitoring
- Vape detection
- THC detection
- Gunshot detection
- Emergency key word alerting
- Audible alerting
- Light/occupancy alerting
- Chemical alerting
- Volatile organic compound (VOC) alerting
- Tamper alerting
Temperature, humidity, and pressure alerts.

Education
Achieve a healthy & safe school environment with the HALO Smart Sensor, our all-in-one security device. The HALO device is the key to providing a low-risk environment in educational facilities. HALO monitors carbon dioxide (CO2), particulate concentrations, humidity, volatile organic compounds (VOC), and nitrogen (NO2) in the air. HALO delivers safe, healthy, and comfortable learning environments that keeps students, teachers and staff safe while, at the same time, saving money by efficiently running the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system.
Sample use cases across industries (Education, Healthcare, and Corporate Campuses):
- Vape and THC detection: Identify vaping or smoking in bathrooms and locker rooms.
- Air quality monitoring: Automate and ensure proper ventilation in each room with the BACnet integration.
- Prevent spread of infectious diseases: Ensure rooms have been cleaned and the air is properly filtered.
- Aggression detection and calls for help: Students and staff can call for help using specific keywords. Get notified of fights and bullying in bathrooms and locker rooms.
- Vandalism and trespassing alerts: Receive notifications when lights or noises are detected after hours or in unauthorized areas.
- Gunshot detection: Identify gunshots and their locations with two-factor authentication using frequency sound pattern and percussion. This sensor is 3rd party certified.
- Chemical and gas detection: Catch chemical spills and hazardous gases in science labs, mechanical and utility rooms, custodial closets, and maintenance areas.
Solution architecture
The HALO Smart Sensors can be integrated into Genetec Security Center video management software. This integration requires the Genetec Industrial IoT plugin to be installed and licensed. The Industrial IoT plugin allows HALO to transmit event notifications to Security Center through Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).
Features and benefits
Features:
1. Real-time air quality monitoring and building health status
2. Certified audible gunshot detection with dual factor authentication featuring a 360-degree range with additional emergency measures for spoken keyword alerts.
3. Multiple certifications (UL, CE, IK10), and HALO has received over 45 awards and security product of the year
4. Open architecture allows communication of building automation and control systems for applications such as heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning control (HVAC), lighting control, access control, fire detection systems, and their associated equipment.
5. Alerts based on indoor air quality (IAQ) measurements, based on the EPA’s regulated standards, for the indoor environment. It will identify if the environment is in the danger zone for the spread of diseases at the location of each sensor.
Benefits:
1. Protect private areas where cameras and microphones are prohibited
2. Quickly respond to threats in sensitive areas of your facilities
3. Increase responsiveness to fluctuations in air quality by tying HVAC to air quality sensors
