Energy and Utilities 

Power generation and transmission falls under the category of critical infrastructure and as such requires the highest level of security. Most utilities that use our radar system want to detect any threats well before the property line to allow for quicker response times to monitor and mitigate threats before damage or theft happens. In addition to providing advance notice of potential threats long before they cross the fence line at most locations, Spotter’s advanced filters also reduce false alarms and immediately cue security cameras to detected targets. The biggest advantage of using RSA is the constant video recording of RTSP stream of targets to provide investigators with more information and constant real-time situational awareness.

Data Centers 

With the heavy reliance on data in modern times, large data centers fall under the category of critical infrastructure and require the same degree of security as energy and utility facilities.

Prisons / Borders

Prisons have unique security requirements as they are primarily concerned with keeping people in a contained area rather than keeping people and things out. However, Spotter radars have been used at prisons for a dual purpose, to detect people using drones and other methods trying to get contraband into prisons and identify people where they shouldn’t be. Because Spotter radars have the ability to detect small objects in motion, when someone, for example, throws a tennis ball filled with drugs over a fence the Spotter system will identify it, quickly determine the threat level with sophisticated filters, and respond automatically. The advantage of having RSA is to fully document such incidents for all subsequent incident reporting and legal proceedings. 

Features and Benefits

One of the most useful features offered by the Spotter Global perimeter security solution is the NetworkIO system or “NIO” for short. NIO serves as the brain of an entire perimeter security system. It gathers information from all the radar sensors on a site and processes that information to identify targets, filtering out false alarms with over 17 different filters as well as trainable AI if customers want to get even better results. NIO also communicates with other products like the Genetec VMS system. After NIO processes the radar data, cues PTZ camera to relevant targets, and starts to track them, NIO will also send a trigger alarm to Genetec to start recording or take some other action as needed. This whole process only takes a few seconds so no critical threat will go undetected or unrecorded. NIO can also be accessed from a web user interface making it available anywhere in the world.

Solution Architecture 

Spotter NetworkIO™ is an application that can be run on a VM or on dedicated Linux server hardware. You can also purchase NIO as an appliance running on dedicated hardware. NIO 6.0 includes video AI for an extra measure of threat identification. You can also set up zones in NIO that determine target threat levels by geographical location and, in the event of a breach, automatically trigger system responses according to those threat levels. A red zone, for example, may be a high alert zone, green could be a low alert tracking zone. If a target comes into a zone or leaves a zone it can trigger an appropriate alarm that is sent to the VMS.
