OCR Software for Automatic Recognition of Container Codes in ISO 6346 format
VaxOCR Containers is Vaxtor's OCR software solution for the automatic detection and recognition of container codes based on the international standard ISO 6346.
The OCR Engine for container code recognition is 100% proprietary and the data obtained can be sent to Genetec Security Center using the communication interface of VaxALPR.
VaxOCR containers is available on PC and directly embedded on an Axis Camera (Artpec 6/7)
Operating Modes

Shipping containers are seen in all parts of the world as they are moved around by road, rail or sea. Recording these movements is a real challenge as their markings are often very hard to read.
This text can be very hard to read, – but Vaxtor's Container Recognition software running on board Axis cameras uses advanced OCR techniques to accurately read the ISO horizontal and vertical lettering found on all containers, sending all data to Helix, Vaxtor's BOF, where they can be stored and later searched.
Note that when running on-board an Axis camera the container must be moving very slowly. The On PC solution will read faster moving freight.
Video captured on Security Centre can be bookmarked with these container reads so that users can search for any container and view the matching video clips as each container was seen.
The Container Code application allows port operators and transportation companies to record the exact time and place each container was seen allowing forensic searching as and when needed.
Access Control and Security
About 90% of all trade is conducted via maritime containers of which more than 500 million are shipped yearly. The high volume of containers moving between countries via sea and land transportation make them important targets in the illicit drug trade.
Controlling the access of containers, managing, monitoring and confirming the correct vehicles are leaving and arriving to ports and borders is an increasing security requirement.
VaxOCR containers addresses this by running on camera or PC reporting every container in the field of view. This can be integrated to existing systems confirming the correct license plate to the container codes or even weigh bridge readouts to validate transports leaving and entering high security sites.
