Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, today announced the launch of AutoVu Cloudrunner™ ("Cloudrunner") in Australia and New Zealand. AutoVu Cloudrunner is a cloud-based, vehicle-centric investigation system (VCIS) designed to detect, analyse, and securely store highly accurate vehicle identification data to support public safety investigations.
Already available in North America for 18 months, Cloudrunner has been deployed in more than 75 cities and has significantly aided in solving crimes large and small. “AutoVu Cloudrunner absolutely changes the game for criminal investigations, helping speed up emergency response and close cases faster,” said Lieutenant Jamey Moss, Communications Center, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Cloudrunner empowers community-led policing initiatives and provides state and federal police forces, community associations, and campus security teams with the ability to identify vehicles of interest involved in criminal activity and respond to incidents more effectively. With real-time hotlist alerts and live monitoring capabilities, Cloudrunner helps expedite investigations, offering accurate insights that enable swift intervention.
“Cloudrunner will benefit local government agencies, law enforcement, and businesses that require an innovative and flexible ALPR solution,” said George Moawad, Country Manager, Oceania, Genetec Inc. “With Cloudrunner, organisations will benefit from enhanced situational awareness and a more unified response to security challenges. No matter where a crime occurs, it can be addressed in real-time, collectively and efficiently.”
Cloudrunner CR-H2: a proven high-performance solar-powered ALPR camera
The system utilizes vehicle data collected by Cloudrunner CR-H2 (“CR-H2”), a high-performance solar-powered automated license plate recognition (ALPR) camera that offers unmatched performance in all conditions – day or night, rain or shine. Powered by AutoVu Machine Learning Core (MLC) – the company’s deep neural network-based vehicle recognition analytics engine – the CR-H2 camera goes beyond license plate recognition. It can identify vehicle type, make, model and colour, as well as behavior analytics, so that investigators can narrow their search, even when there is no or only partial license plate information available. Additionally, Cloudrunner offers an interactive map that helps focus investigations and search within specific areas.
“Cloudrunner is easy to install and deploy at scale, providing a cost-effective cloud-based solution that mitigates the high cost associated with installing fixed cameras. The intuitive interface requires minimal training, so users can be up and running quickly,” said Larry Legere, Commercial Director, Genetec Inc. “Cloudrunner notifies you in real-time about critical events, ensuring rapid response and better decision-making.”
The Cloudrunner investigation system is also compatible with AutoVu SharpV ALPR cameras, providing flexibility to manage different camera types in one platform.
Ease of use
The Cloudrunner investigation system removes the complexities of deploying a high-performance ALPR solution. The CR-H2 solar-powered camera works wirelessly over existing cellular networks (4G/LTE) and requires no specialized ALPR expertise for installation and maintenance, making it both practical and cost-effective. End users and integrators can easily reposition cameras and fine-tune settings via the Cloudrunner Install App, ensuring optimal flexibility and performance.
Ease of collaboration
Designed with privacy and cybersecurity as core principles, Cloudrunner facilitates responsible collaboration between local stakeholders, either as a standalone solution or as a part of a broader Genetec™ Security Center deployment.
Through its collaborative intelligence capability, Cloudrunner enhances the sharing of ALPR data across partnered communities, whether it’s law enforcement agencies or private organisations. When relevant evidence is found, it can quickly and securely be shared with authorized stakeholders to expedite investigations. The integration with the Genetec Clearance™ digital evidence management system (DEMS) ensures that relevant evidence can be securely shared with other law enforcement agencies or attorneys while maintaining the chain of custody.
“Camera reads can be managed and securely shared between multiple parties while maintaining the chain of custody. Sensitive data is always protected,” said Moawad. “All gathered data by users is processed and stored locally in Australia, with customers retaining full ownership and control of their data.”
Pricing and availability
AutoVu Cloudrunner is available in Australia and New Zealand from Genetec accredited channel partners. Pricing is a simple and affordable yearly subscription inclusive of both hardware and software with a MSRP of $4,000AUD per year. As a cloud-managed system, Cloudrunner lets customers scale their system up or down based on their needs while providing them with the ability to automatically update their system with new features and functionalities as they become available.
