When it comes to investigations, time is of the essence

Investigators rely on a wide range of evidence when working on cases, including video footage, license plate reads, and other forms of forensic evidence. Traditionally, data must be exported from each system and added to physical media to share the digital evidence with law enforcement and other stakeholders. Not only can this be a time-consuming process, but the chain of custody also needs to be tracked to maintain an audit of who had access to the evidence.

The latest AutoVu Cloudrunner™ release allows organizations to securely share and manage their license plate captures with the click of a button. That means investigators can transfer automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) data to Genetec Clearance™. Additionally, they can manage who has access to the vehicle-based evidence, and ensure the chain-of-evidence is maintained.

Why share ALPR reads in Clearance?

Manage who can access evidence

Grant and revoke access to ensure only authorized individuals can view evidence in Clearance.

Access and review evidence from anywhere

Internal and external stakeholders can securely access evidence directly from their web browser.

Ensure evidence remains secure and audited

All files uploaded to Clearance are encrypted and activity is tracked within the system’s audit trails.

Examples for retail and law enforcement

Retailers combating organized retail crime

When investigating theft, retailers will often use reads from ALPR cameras to identify the vehicles of potential suspects.

Using Cloudrunner, investigators can share license plate captures of these vehicles with retail partners when targeted by organized retail crime. Evidence can also be uploaded from other sources, including their camera systems and loss reports. Retailers can document the activity and send all relevant case information to law enforcement using this integration with Clearance.

Sharing evidence with officers and attorneys

For law enforcement agencies, having the right tools to investigate crimes and close cases can make all the difference. Exporting ALPR reads directly into Clearance helps police speed up investigations by having effective workflows. They can share evidence with other units in their agencies, as well as external partners.

In addition to ALPR reads and reports, Clearance makes it possible to upload media and files from any source. All evidence and case details can be available for review from a single repository that’s securely managed.

Availability: The release will be available to Cloudrunner clients in North America beginning November 2024. All Cloudrunner subscribers will be able to share their ALPR reads and reports with Clearance at no additional cost. Upon activation, subscribers will also receive six-month access to all Clearance functionalities.
