New connectivity features in SharpV ALPR
The updated version of the AutoVu SharpV camera includes new functionalities such as 4G/LTE connectivity, GPS camera tracking, and an improved design to simplify installation.
Built for simplified installation
This version of the SharpV was built with ease of installation in mind. Users with power but without direct network connectivity can bring their own Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) for data connection. This alleviates the need to find or create a location with power and network connectivity, making installation easier and more flexible.
PTCRB approved: it’s more than just wireless connectivity
The SharpV has undergone rigorous testing and approval processes to comply with PTCRB requirements for IoT devices. This ensures that the device is compliant with performance standards when it comes to cellular connectivity. You can find the listing of Genetec™ PTCRB-approved devices on the certified devices webpage.
The PTCRB certification has allowed the SharpV to go through various other certifications from large cellular carriers. Some carriers need it as a prerequisite, while others prefer vendors to have them before undergoing their certification process. The SharpV is now compliant with AT&T Trendi and Verizon's cellular connectivity and cybersecurity standards. The AutoVu team is in the process of obtaining certifications with T-Mobile, US Cellular, and Rogers and continuing to grow the certifications with other carriers.
This model also complies with FirstNet's standards. This means first responders, cities, etc., can confidently use a FirstNet SIM in their SharpV. As a result, they have connectivity and visibility into what is going on during mission-critical events.
Pinpoint your camera’s exact location
With Global Positioning System now onboard, always know the location of your SharpV. The new model supports multiple constellations – including US-GPS, Glonass, and Galileo – providing many satellite redundancies and an accurate and reliable location. This is most beneficial for those using SharpV cameras on tripods or trailers in their day-to-day activities. You will continue to get your camera's location without having to set it manually every time the camera moves.
Continuing with a proven design
With this version of the SharpV, there was no need to redesign the fundamental building blocks of its ALPR capabilities. The SharpV has a proven design that provides quality reads, regardless of the type of connectivity.
